The Route runs in two circular sections:

CHARING CROSS LT Station - Westminster Bridge - Kennington Road - Kennington Church - Stockwell - Clapham - Tooting Bec - Tooting Broadway - Southcroft Road - Streatham - Brixton - Kennington,Kennington Road - Westminster Bridge - Victoria Embankment, CHARING CROSS LT Station ( stand for 6 mins then ) Blackfriars Bridge - Elephant - Kennington - Brixton - Streatham - Tooting - Balham - Clapham - Stockwell - Kennington - Elephant - Blackfriars - Victoria Embankment, CHARING CROSS LT Station ( stand for 6 mins then ) repeat cycle
This Route was previously numbered 287 but was part of a scheme to renumber all night routes in the "N" series to make availble the numbers for the trolleybus replacent routes although in this case the number was not used until August 1962 for Barking to Brentwood service .

TRAFALGAR SQUARE - Aldwych - Fleet Street - Ludgate Circus - Blackfriars Bridge - Elephant - Kennington - Streatham - Tooting - Clapham - Oval - Blackfriars Bridge - Ludgate Circus - Aldwych - TRAFALGAR SQUARE  and then as below

TRAFALGAR SQUARE - Whitehall - Westminster Bridge - Oval -Stockwell - Clapham - Tooting - Streatham - Brixton - Oval - Westminster Bridge - Whitehall - TRAFALGAR SQUARE then as above continuing via Aldwych
Passengers could remain on the bus at Trafalgar Square thus passengers boarding in Blackfriars Road could travel to Whitehall direct
Route altered between Westminster Bridge and Blackfriars Bridge to terminate at Trafalgar Square instead of Charing Cross LT Station and run via Whitehall and Fleet Street instead of Vicroria Embankment
